The moment I moved to Brooklyn I knew I wanted to adopt a dog. My intentions were to rescue a young and smaller sized female pit mix which I knew in New York City would not be a difficult dog to find. It only took one visit to the city shelter for me to fall in love. As I walked by every cage my heart sank because of course I wanted to save them all. I didn't know how I would make the decision. But the moment I locked eyes with one special dog, I knew I found what I was looking for.
Ironically the dog I fell in love with was not a young small female pit mix, but rather a large 4 year old male pit/weimaraner mix. I knew I couldn't leave there without him. We named him Miles (which is incredibly appropriate considering he likes to walk for hours). He is a former junk yard dog and currently has the new title of giant love bug. He is a lover of cheese, walks, playing fetch, gazing out windows, tug o war, spooning and cuddling and has a mild obsession with squirrels (okay, major). He is the best decision I have ever made.
