THE ANIMALS
By using your FOUND leash you are helping to raise
public awareness of the urgent need for animal adoption. (note: Stunning FOUND collars are arriving in September '08!)
Proceeds from each leash go directly to the Louis
Animal Foundation, a unique non-profit group dedicated to spaying/neutering
and providing homes for animals who have not yet 'found'
their people. We are working toward a goal of at least $2,500 in
donations from leashes this first FOUND year and are looking forward to
seeing our $1,000 donation plaque on the Foundation's mobile
animal hospital soon.
THE ROPE
The custom-made rope used for the leashes (or leads) is a unique and extremely durable alternative to leather- we are pretty certain dogs, or at the very least cows, appreciate
our use of non-animal based material. Each rope is hand-spliced to
withstand thousands of pounds of pull, by professional New England rope-makers (who thank you for supporting their trade). The ends are then "whipped" (an old
nautical term) for additional durablility.
THE HARDWARE
The adjustable solid brass o-rings and solid bronze
clips (marine grade Italian hardware) on your FOUND leash allow it to be used in any of the following ways: (detailed pics on shop page)
- As a simple hand-held leash of variable lengths
- Around your waist, freeing up your hands
- Over your shoulder, across your chest
- To clip your animal to a fence, a tree or a post without worrying about the security of a knot. Never leave your animal unattended.
It is very easy to adjust the brass o-rings, you hold one of the rings still and twist the rope through the ring with your free hand. The braids of the rope will separate slightly for the ring to move along. The ring will stay where you leave it. You may clip either end of the leash to your dog's collar.
THE TAGS
The individually-numbered, stamped brass tags on each FOUND
leash serve as a reminder of the uniqueness of your animal and allow
us to keep track of the number of animals you have helped so far.
ADOPTION
You can find beautiful companion
animals to adopt or foster at Petfinder.com or visit
your local shelter. An easy way to help those animals waiting to be adopted is to
bring towels, dog and cat beds, and food to your local shelter.
Most shelters have websites which list their specific
needs.
Thanks for your support!
